THIS COULD BE YOU!

ARE YOU READY TO BEGIN YOUR CRUSADE?
Our foundation in faith and distinctive, academic approach of sharpening young minds, nurturing their strengths, helping overcome challenges, thereby, defining their character. We are shaping a community where the educators, families, and parish, partner together to develop better individuals. After all, this is where CRUSADERS ARE MADE!
FAITH FORMULATION

Liturgical Services
We worship as a school community on all holy days of obligation, as well as at the opening of the new school year, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Catholic Schools Week. Students take on ministerial roles such as greeters, lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, and as members of Music Ministry. Each class is assigned a holy day to plan and in which to take part.
Rites of Passage are also celebrated within the context of liturgy. On the evening prior to graduation, our Seniors and their families worship together at a Eucharistic Baccalaureate.
Traditionally speaking, we carry out the Blessing of the Throats to remember the Feast of Saint Blase, the imposition of ashes on Ash Wednesday, and we honor the Blessed Mother on the first school day in May with a prayer/crowning service on the front lawn of the school.
our history

92 years and counting
Catholic Central School is a coeducational, college preparatory school educating more than 300 students in grades Pre K-12. Located in Latham, our diverse student body hails from 35 surrounding school districts. Catholic Central is rich in history and tradition. Our school was founded in 1923 by Bishop Edmund F. Gibbons at request from pastors in local parishes. The first year the school opened it served around 520 students, but the next year it doubled to 1,046. Through many different changes, our school has remained a vibrant force in the community for 92 years.
We have graduated 25,000+ young men and women who have become doctors, lawyers, business owners, teachers, etc. Although their days walking the hallowed halls of CCHS have ended, they remain true to the “purple and white” with their ever-present CRUSADER SPIRIT! Catholic Central remains the largest Diocesan high school in the Albany Diocese.
In the Fall of 2022 Catholic Central relocated to the St. Ambrose Church campus partnering with its Parish School to re-envision Catholic Education for the 21st Century and beyond as a Pre-K – Grade 12 regional institution.
